I'm stuck at this stage of problem solving. I'm just not sure yet of the questions I should be asking (and of whom) to figure out how to get to the next step of setting up the mediabox so I can try to run the EyeTV software. The instructions for the mediabox talk about either connecting a TV by SCART or HDMI, so I am wondering if this is the only way to get a signal out of the mediabox? Do I have to go buy an adaptor for one of these to connect it to my EyeTV thingy? (It would have to be an adaptor for SCART or HDMI to connect with the video cable which then connects to the EyeTV stick.) I have an early EyeTV Hybrid (without QAM) that is recognised as a Hauppauge WinTV HVR-900 when connected to any version of windows - without any driver change at all. I run the cable from the wall to the mediabox and then from the mediabox to the Mac, but this doesn't give me anything new on the Mac screen from when the mediabox wasn't in the setup. I think that the EyeTV cards are just rebranded Hauppauge ones. And I've not been able to figure out how to do that yet. My first problem is that I need to initialize the mediabox (which normally I would do with the TV and remote control where the menus are displayed) before I can get access to all those channels. So far, I can get local shows and one CNN channel if I use the cable straight from the wall to the EyeTV Hybrid stick which connects to the Mac with a USB connection.īut to get all the channels we're actually paying for, I think I need to go through the mediabox we got from Cablecom.

I am trying to set-up our Mac desktop to allow us to watch TV (from Cablecom, through the HD mediabox recorder) until we get an actual television.
